Nr 3909, Central Railroad Station, Stockholm, about 1909

Stockholm C in June 2014.  David A Anderson photograph

A big difference between the 1909 postcard and 2014 is the presence of the statue to Nils Ericson in front of the railroad station.  It was formerly in  Järnvägsparken just to the South of the railroad station until the early 1970s when new Construction for a highway interchange basically covered the park.

The statue of Nils was formerly located in Järnvägsparken just South of the Central Railroad Station in Stockholm.  Nils was a prominent engineer, helping to build Canals and Railways in Sweden.

Nils Ericson is the older brother to John Ericsson who worked on propeller designs and is known for the USS Monitor.

The former site of Järnvägsparken is now mostly under bridges and interchanges.  Photo by David A Anderson, June 2014.
